About the brand "Vartoviy K9" - Ukrainian protection of service dogs

Vartoviy K9 is a Ukrainian brand founded by a practicing dog handler specializing in humanitarian demining with dogs and an instructor at IGP.

The world has been divided into “before” and “after.” While dog training was a hobby before the full-scale invasion, it became a calling afterward: to help the country, care for those around us, and protect our four-legged partners. The safety of service dogs has become one of the brand’s top priorities.

Dog body armor — 2 patents and neck protection

The idea of protecting service dogs, which originated at the start of the war, has evolved into the creation of a bulletproof vest for dogs. Today, the design holds two patents and is based not only on practical experience but also on medically sound research.

However, simply wanting to create protective gear isn’t enough—a deep understanding of a dog’s anatomy is essential to avoid causing harm or restricting its natural movements. Everything is taken into account during the design process: the weight of the body armor, the protection class, the duration of wear, and the physiological characteristics of service dogs. That is why the brand’s gear combines protection, ergonomics, and safety for the animal.

Ukraine now has a unique innovation—a bulletproof vest for dogs with neck protection, the only one of its kind in the world.

3-in-1 Tactical Harness

The brand has also developed a tactical harness for dogs that can be used for assault and protection dogs. Its design allows it to be used for dog rappelling and as a traction system for transporting the wounded.

Support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Every year, Vartoviy K9 supports charitable initiatives for service dogs by donating K9 tactical first-aid kits, body armor, and tactical harnesses. But support isn’t just about material assistance. The brand’s team actively shares its expertise and trains others, as fostering the professional community is a key part of the company’s mission.

Partnership with Step Up

Vartoviy K9, in collaboration with the Step Up Rehabilitation Center, conducts training sessions and lectures for military dog handlers on military dog equipment, its proper selection and use, physical training of dogs for combat missions, and post-service rehabilitation.
